You have to the love the illusion of Hollywood; like when the beautiful actress just finishes a 5 mile run and she looks fabulous enough for a night out on the town. Well, that is fantasy land, or atleast it is for me. When I finish a good workout my face is red, I’m usually slightly out of breath, and I’m drenched in sweat. There is nothing sexy about it. Now, I can handle the sweat on my forehead, (because that can easily be wiped away), but I can’t stand the embarrassing armpit wet spots.

That is why I love today’s FitCeleb fashion find, the Energy Cap Sleeve T-shirt by Brooks Running. This cute cap sleeve offers superior moisture management, which keeps you dry and comfortable during and after any activity. It comes in seven vibrant colors and is semi-fitted.

FitCeleb Tip Of The Day: Maintain Your Beauty With Vitamin C

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008 at 7:00 am

oranges.jpg

Here’s a tip to keep in your back pocket. You want healthy skin, hair and good looking teeth? well who don’t!.. So load up on some oranges and veggies or  just some vitamin C supplements will do..

Vitamin C is an antioxidant that’s found primarily in citrus fruits, leafy green vegetables, broccoli, potatoes and other fruits and veggies.

Some warning signs to look out for if you are not getting enough Vitamin C in your diet:

  • Excessively dry hair with ends that split easily
  • Scaly, rough, dry skin
  • Bleeding or inflamed gums
  • Wounds that heal slowly, frequent infections, and bruising easily
  • Frequent nosebleeds
  • Pain and swelling in the joints
  • Anemia
  • Weakened tooth enamel

I never thought one little vitamin could be responsible for so much. So, if you have one or more of these symptoms you could just be lacking Vitamin C in your diet…

Tilapia With Cucumber Salad

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008 at 6:59 am

Tilapiawithcucumbersalad.recipe

Fish contain Omega-3 fatty acids that benefit the heart of healthy people, and those at high risk of or who have cardiovascular disease. Eating fish (particularly fatty fish) at least two times a week is recommended. Fish is a good source of protein and doesn’t have the high saturated fat that fatty meat products do. With this light and crispy Tilapia recipe you’ll crave to have it more…

Start to Finish:25 min
Makes:4 servings

Ingredients:

  • Dressing
    1 tablespoon honey
    1 tablespoon rice vinegar
    2 teaspoons grated gingerroot
    1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Salad
1/2 medium cucumber, cut in half lengthwise, thinly sliced
    1/4 red bell pepper, diced
3 green onions, thinly sliced (3 tablespoons)
    1 teaspoon chopped fresh cilantro
  • Fish
    2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
    1 teaspoon lemon-pepper seasoning
1 cup Progresso® panko crispy bread crumbs or Progresso® plain bread crumbs
    1 egg
4 tilapia or other white fish fillets (6 oz each)
    4 tablespoons vegetable oil

Directions:

  1. In medium bowl, mix dressing ingredients. Stir in salad ingredients to coat.
  2. On plate, mix flour and lemon-pepper seasoning. On second plate, place bread crumbs. In medium bowl, beat egg with fork. Coat each piece of fish with flour mixture. Dip into beaten egg; coat well with bread crumbs.
  3. In 10-inch nonstick skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of the oil over medium-high heat. Add 2 fish fillets; cook 3 minutes. Carefully turn fish over. Reduce heat to medium; cook about 3 minutes longer or until fish flakes easily with fork. Repeat with remaining oil and fish. Serve fish topped with salad.

Recipe Tip:
Eat foods like cucumbers which contain a higher percentage of water. More water means fewer calories for the same weight of food. Good news for your waistline.

Panko is the Japanese word for “bread crumbs.” Unlike traditional bread crumbs, panko is made from the soft, tender centers of bread instead of the crust, which gives a light and crunchy texture.
