Is Frozen Yogurt As Healthy As Regular Yogurt?

Amanda Bynes, like most FitCelebs keeps her figure by making wise healthy snack choices. She was recently spotted purchasing some frozen yogurt for a late afternoon treat. Frozen yogurt is a great low calorie alternative to ice cream. But this photo got me thinking, “Is Frozen Yogurt As Healthy As Regular Yogurt?”

According to Joy Bauer, R.D. of Shape Magazine, - it depends. The reason yogurt is such a nutrious snack is becuase it contains probiotics that aid in digestion. These probiotics come from the good bacteria that naturally grow in yogurt. The problem is that when most companies freeze the yogurt, they kill the good bacteria and therfore eliminate the probiotic benefits. Joy Bauer explained:

“Some makers skip the fermentation process that creates good bacteria, and others heat treat their yogurt to extend shelf life; both actions render frozen yogurt culture-free. To ensure that your pick packs probiotics, look for the National Yogurt Association’ Live & Active Culture seal of approval.” - Shape Magazine

The bottom line, frozen yogurt can’t be relied on as a daily sources of vitamins and nutrients, but - it’s still a great low calorie substitute for ice cream. So if you want to look like Amanda Bynes, snack like her, and try some frozen yogurt today!

Mary Kate Olsen’s Favorite LA Cafe

Mary Kate Olsen recently jetted off to Paris to catch some of the Fall Shows, oh the life of a celebrity! While there she attended the John Galliano fashion show. I’m sure that after the show Mary Kate had plenty of fabulous Parisian restaurants to choose from. However, once she gets back to L.A. , chances are that you can find her having lunch at her favorite L.A. hot-spot Urth Caffe.

This body conscious celeb and her sister, are often seen sitting outside and enjoying one of Urth’s signature salads of organic greens, hearts of palm, and feta cheese. The Olsen twins aren’t the only celebrities that frequent this trendy L.A. eatery; rumors have it that stars like Cameron Diaz, Reese Witherspoon, and Kirsten Dunst all dine at Urth.

So if you want to eat like a celebrity, have lunch at Urth cafe.

Swanky Style

Oscar Winner Hilary Swank looks like one of those FitCelebs that are just naturally in shape. Well, according to Shape Magazine Ms. Swank runs two to three days a week and does Pilates three times a week.

Here’s what she had to say about the benefits of exercise:

“Exercise is a huge stress reliever; it makes me feel great mentally. It gets my blood going and it makes me think better”  Shape Magazine

Hmm..wonder if that’s what got her through her divorce with Chad Lowe?

Guess Whose Working Out?

This is one of the few downsides of being a celebrity, having to be photographed after working out, (I would die). Yesterday, Hillary Duff was seen leaving her Hollywood gym looking quite invigorated. I love Hillary Duff because she is not a naturally skinny girl, Hillary must workout to maintain her FitCeleb body. She recently offered these words of encouragement for all of us normal folks!

“You can change your body when you work on it.” - Hillary Duff, US Magazine

Hillary should know, when she was 15 this actress and singer was slammed by the press for her weight gain. As a result, she quickly dropped an estimated 30 lbs. on an extreme no bread and no sugar diet. Thankfully, this 20 year old FitCeleb now follows a more balanced weight management plan. According to US magazine, the star works out four times a week. Her workouts include Pilates and laps in the pool.

From a nutrition standpoint, she relies on a menu of fruit, veggies, and lean protein. The 5-foot-2 star is now back to 109 lbs. and says that:

“There was a time when I was obsessed with my weight. But now, I’m happy with my body.” - Hillary Duff, US Magazine

I’m glad to hear it Hillary, keep up the good work - because you look great!

Look Scandalous Like Scarlett

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I love love love Scarlett Johansson! It must be so hard to be thin-and stay-thin in Hollywood (can you imagine?), but she has a real body, and I love her for it. For those curves that you crave, take some tips from Scarlett and eat like her. Her food intake consists of a low-carb diet consisting of lean proteins and lots of salads.

A real girl with some perspective! How could you not love her?
