Hilary Duff’s Diet

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008 at 3:00 pm

Hiliary Duff

Hilary Duff is another FitCeleb who knows what to do to look fabulous. She may only be 20 years old, but Hilary has been in the spotlight since her “Lizzie McGuire” days. Some of you mommies may recognize her from that, but she is all grown up now and you will probably end up being a fan of her diet instead!

A couple of years ago Hilary Duff’s weight was a hot topic of discussion in the tabloids. She said:

“I admit, I took it to heart”

She put herself on a diet and then was criticized for being too thin.

“That threw me for a loop,” she says. “First I was too fat, then I was too skinny! I realized that I couldn’t make anyone happy but myself.”

According to Shape magazine, Hilary talks about the flack over her weight and how she bounced back to reclaim her self-confidence.  Hilary has had a love-hate relationship with her body.

“I learned that you have to balance things. If I’m going to eat bread, I’ll skip dessert, or if I know I want dessert, I won’t have pasta. Once I started eating healthier, I put on weight and looked much better,” she says.

“Everyone needs food that gives them the energy they need to be active— and they should have fun.”

Brook Shield’s: Got Milk?

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008 at 2:00 pm

brookemilkad.JPG

Brooke Shields looks amazing in the new photos from her “Got Milk” ad campaign. Brooke definitely has the right idea by drinking her daily dosage of low fat milk, because research shows that drinking milk on a consistent basis will:

“Preserve bone health, lower ones risk to be overweight, and also has the potential to lower ones risk to develop diabetes in the future.” - docgerrytan.com

Another added benefit of downing “a cold one” each morning:

“Women with the highest intake of dairy foods were 21 percent less likely to develop type 2 diabetes than those with the lowest intake, with an estimated 4 percent decrease in the risk for each serving per day increase in low fat dairy product.” - docgerrytan.com

So, how much milk should you be drinking?:

For the prevention of osteoporosis, a high calcium intake is recommended especially for women. It is recommended that a daily intake of low fat milk or skim milk with 2 glasses per day can give the women sufficient levels of calcium especially if taken regularly during the premenopausal state. Likewise other benefits of taking milk as shown in other studies showed it to lower ones risk to be overweight and develop Insulin Resistance Syndrome. - docgerrytan.com

Well there you have it - If you want to look like Brooke - drink your two glasses of milk a day (and hire a personal trainer, order in your meals from diet designs, have some comsetic curgery etc.- just kidding!)

Post A Comemnt: How may of you drink milk on a daily basis?

P.S. - Only in Amercia can a major ad campaign be based on poor grammar - you “gotta” love it!

10 Stress Relieving Foods

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008 at 1:00 pm

 woman-stressed-out.jpg

Overwhelmed? Overtired? In desperate need of some mental and physical nourishment? (Yes! Yes! and Yes!) You’re stressed! However, before you call it quits and hide under the covers try to relieve stress by eating certain foods and avoiding others.

Tara Geise, a registered dietitian (RD) in private practice in Orlando, Florida, and a spokesperson for American Dietetic Association says,

“One of the keys is avoiding things that will give your body and mind real highs and lows like caffeine and alcohol. You don’t want to intake a lot of stimulants or a lot of depressants when you’re stressed.”

Geise also recommends skipping that sugary snack you crave when the stress builds up.

“Sugar causes your blood sugar to spike and then fall quickly, which can make your energy level dip”

“Then you’re low energy and stressed and that’s not a good picture.”

How Will J. Lo Bounce Back After Her Babies? - Part 2

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008 at 12:01 pm

\jennifer-lopezglamour.jpegmain

As promised, here is part two of “How Will J. Lo Bounce Back After Her babies?”

After 10 1/2 years of training J. Lo, Gunnar Peterson has become an expert on how to help women with naturally curvy bodies maintain their “assets”:

“Curvy women have to eat. Don’t make any drastic changes in terms of calories reduction or carb depletion. Don’t switch to a straight cardio routinue. You have to lift weights to maintain shoulder-to-waist ratio and hip-to-waist ratio. Always add atleast one component of movement to your workout. Add plyometrics to your workouts, because you want to get used to carrying your weight with grace and fluidity as you move.” - FitnessRX Magazine

In regards to J. Lo and her ability to recover after giving birth to twins, I have no doubt that she will be able to bounce right back into shape. According to Gunnar, she has a one of a kind fitness work ethic:

“Jennifer is the kind of celebrity who doesn’t make unhealthy choices. She doesn’t dabble with drugs, cigarettes or booze; she gets her rest, she hydrates and she makes great choices when she’s eating. She’s very committed and consistent with her exercise. And, she’s one of the few who’s been able to ride the peak as opposed to crossing over to obsession.” - FitnessRX Magazine

What will her post pregnancy workout consist of? I’m guessing that she is going to return to her original pre-pregancy workout regiment. Take a look………….

Stop Emotional Eating Today!

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008 at 12:00 pm

WomenEatingburger

If we only ate when we were truly hungry, we would all be thin! How many times have you sat bored in front of the T.V. or stressed out in front of the computer and finished an entire bag of chips without even realizing it! How often did you have an important deadline for work or school, and while burning the mid night oil, you reach for a candy bar!?! Bad break up, nothing like a pint of ice-cream - right!?! - WRONG

The problem with our American culture is that we use food as an emotional crutch. Instead, of eating only when we are truly hungry, we eat when we are:

  1. Stressed
  2. Bored
  3. Lonely
  4. Angry
  5. Tired

To be thin you need to think like a thin person - and thin people don’t eat because of their emotions; they eat because they are hungry! So, if you are an emotional eater (I’m the stressed/bored type), continue reading to find out ways to overcome your psychological battle with food………………

Brooke Burke: Pilates During Pregnancy

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008 at 11:00 am

Brooke Burke.silverdress

Brooke Burke is a very FitCeleb. She may have just had her baby, but she spoke to People recently about how important is it to stay fit during pregnancy. While she was pregnant with her fourth child, Brooke told Entertainment Tonight that she owes her nearly perfect body to rigorous workouts and a surprise secret of her own.

“I’ve been doing Pilates for eight years. I actually started with my first pregnancy. I’m a big believer in staying fit during your pregnancy.”

Her thoughts for women who may be a bit hesitant about working out during pregnancy:

“I know a lot of women are a little afraid to work their abs, or are afraid of core work, but I think it supports your back and I think it helps for an easier delivery and it makes us feel good”

If it makes anyone feel better, Brooke gained 30 pounds during her last pregnancy. She maintains that exercise helped her get back in share faster after delivery:

”The more fit you are during your pregnancy, the quicker you’re going to bounce back. I probably started up two weeks after delivery and I felt I could handle that”

Here’s another secret weapon from Brooke to you: Burke is a firm believer in wrapping her post-delivery belly in a compression wrap called Taut, which she says helped her go back to her pre-pregnancy size.

Post Your Comment: Is it just me or does it seems as though all these celebs have a secret for their post-baby body?
