Carnie Wilson is no stranger to the roller-coaster ride of weight management. In 1999, Carnie had her gastric bypass surgery broadcast on the Internet. In 2006, she appeared on “Celebrity Fit Club”, but this former Wilson Phillips singer is still battling the bulge. She was recently seen working out with a trainer in L.A..

After such a dramatic procedure, it is truly unfortunate that Carnie is still struggling with her weight. However, it is very common for individuals to regain some of their weight after undergoing gastric bypass surgery.

It is normal and expected to gain some weight back after two years. The amount of weight regain is difficult to predict. One person may not regain any weight; another may regain 30 or more pounds. On average, patients regain 10 to 15 percent of their excess weight back in the long term. - EinsteinBariatrics.com

So what can Carnie and all of us do to prevent packing on the pounds - you have to dramatically change your eating habits. Continue reading to learn some great ways to keep your waist trim and slim just by changing the way you eat …………..

Eat slowly and chew foods until they are mushy:

*Allow 30 - 60 minutes for each meal
* Aim for 30 chews for each bite, chewing thoroughly to mush
* Take small bites. Try a baby spoon. Cut food in the size of a “pea” to make it easier to chew
* Savor each bite, noting its taste, flavor, and texture
* Sit down and be focused on eating, not other activities where you can become distracted

Stop eating as soon as you feel full:

How to tell when you’ve had enough? * Pressure or fullness in the center below your rib cage
* Nausea
* Pain in your shoulder or upper chest

Set aside three meals a day when you only eat solid foods:

This will help you eat nutritious meals rather than endless snacking. Snacking could prevent you from losing weight. It could even cause you to gain weight.

Sip slowly in between meals all day:

* Sip beverages slowly. Carry a bottle of water at all times.* Avoid high calorie drinks like milkshakes, soda, fruit juices/fruit drinks, beer, alcohol, meal substitutes. They can sabotage your weight loss efforts by adding calories without making you feel full.

* Avoid carbonated beverages. They can cause bloating.

    I write down what I eat - include the calorie count and the fat grams. Try to keep on the Very Low Calorie Diet. So far so good! 22 lbs since Dec 20! Not fun though - and when you screw up and binge, you just dont write it down:)
