Holly Madison and Kendra Wilkinson seized the opportunity to strike some seductive poses for the paparazzi while enjoying some Carvel ice cream. These playful playmates star in the reality TV series The Girls Next Door. When it comes to picking ice cream, these girls have the right idea…. A small cup of soft vanilla ice cream contains 240 calories versus a cup of “hard” ice cream which packs a whopping 390 calories. An even better option is to enjoy a cup of Carvel’s no fat vanilla ice cream which has only 160 calories and tastes DELICIOUS!!!!!

“Molto Mario” Dishes It Out

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008 at 9:00 am

 Mario Batali

Molto Mario” aka Mario Batali spoke to Health magazine about pasta, italian food and how to keep it light and simple. He also gives his take on how to be healthy and still eat well. Read on to see what he had to say:

“I think the larger issue and the reason Americans are so fat is that we don’t think about portion control. If you have 100 grams—about 3 1/2 ounces—of pasta with some kind of vegetable, you’re certainly not going to get bigger unless you don’t do some kind of exercise. Yeah, it has gotten a bad rap. I think in small portions and done the right way, it’s healthy, delicious, and good for you. It’s comforting. People say being happy is an important part of their real health.”

Here’s what Mario would do to make a pasta dish lighter:

“I don’t think you have to disturb the balance of a dish. I would just say serve a smaller portion. I wouldn’t say you should remove an ingredient. I think it’s healthy any way. You just can’t eat 3 1/2 pounds of it. If you eat 3 ounces of pasta and a peach for desert, you’re going to be in good shape.”

Here’s some cooking advice to leave you off with:

”The most common mistake most cooks make is to put too much stuff on a pasta dish. The dish is about the noodle, and the sauce should be more like a salad dressing. It should cling to the noodle, not engulf the noodle. The noodle is the main event.”

FitCeleb Tip Of The Day: Superfood - BlackCurrants

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008 at 6:05 am

Blackcurrant.tipoftheday

Blackcurrants basically are grapes with a distinct dark hue. Blackcurrants don’t just taste delicious, eating them can help protect your body against many illnesses including cardiovascular disease and ageing.

Blackcurrants are full of health promoting antioxidants. It’s these special antioxidants, called anthocyanins, which give blackcurrants their distinctive dark colour. The darker the blackcurrant, the more anthocyanins it contains and the better it is for you.

British blackcurrants are grown and bred especially for their deep colour, making them extra good for you.

Blackcurrants are also especially rich in Vitamin C – containing more than three times as much as an orange! They can even help prevent joint inflammation, eyestrain and urinary infections.

So just remember “the darker the grape the deeper the benefits.”
