Actress Alicia Silverstone recently enjoyed lunch with a male friend at Souen an Organic and Macrobiotic restaurant in the West Village. Alicia has been a vegan for over 10 years and reportedly made the change for ethical reasons. Since going vegan she has lost weight, her nails became stronger, and her skin started to “glow”. As far as fitness is concerned, the star is rumored to practice yoga and loves to workout on a trampoline.

Post A Comment: If any of you FitCeleb readers are either vegan or follow a Macrobiotic diet please share your experiences with us.

LeahRemini.leavingivyrestpic2

Leah Remini has always been in top FitCeleb shape. From her “King of Queens” days to her post-pregnancy body, she is definitely doing something right!  Even though it’s been a while since she gave birth, Leah has been vocal about the 80 pounds she gained while she was pregnant with her daughter Sofia. She also spoke about what a struggle it was to lose the weight.

Leah has said she would eat an entire box of mac and cheese at once, and make regular trips to KFC and McDonald’s. In addition to exercising with a personal trainer five times a week, Leah lost weight with the help of the Jenny Craig program, then by following the First Personal Diet, which is a diet determined by an individual’s metabolism.

She definitely knows what works for her body, cuz she looks great!

Mary J. Blige Gets Into Shape “Boot Camp Style”

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008 at 2:00 pm

MaryJbootcampworkout

Mary J. Blige enjoyed a boot camp style workout on the beach in Miami. Mary and her husband, Martin Kendu, did some sit-ups, jogged, lifted, and tossed the medicine ball around. Based on these pictures, it looks like Mary gave it her all during this workout.

I’ve been a huge Mary J. fan since her “Real Love” days and I love her toned body….. I just hope that those nasty steroid rumors are not true. Back in January, Mary J. and other celebrities like Timbaland, 50 Cent, Tyler Perry and Wyclef Jean, were named in a report that claimed the stars used fake names to receive prescriptions for steroids. Mary J.’s rep told the New York Daily News:

“Mary J. Blige has never taken any performance-enhancing illegal steroids.”

Post A Comment: What do you think of Mary’s body and workout routine? Do you think she used steroids?

Avril Lavigne: What She Eats On Tour

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008 at 1:00 pm

Avril Lavignewithhusbandinmiami

Avril Lavigne is another FitCeleb who looks better with age (23 to be exact). The busy rock princess (she is currently on tour) eats healthy during the day to keep her energy up before concerts:

“Vegetables, vegan sour cream, vegan butter.  I steam broccoli”

 But after the show:

“I’ll eat junk and have a glass of wine.  I like french fries and ice cream cones and the truck-stop burritos.”

“Other must haves: dill pickle-flavored chips from her native Canada.”

On top of that, she enjoys yoga in her off time. Maybe that’s why she can afford the french fries, ice cream and burritos??

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Celebrity Trainer Saved Her Body

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008 at 12:08 pm

Gwyneth PaltrowTracyANderson

When Gwyneth Paltrow gave birth to her second child in 2006, this A-list actress struggled to lose weight for the first time in her life. (Welcome to the club Gwyneth). Initially, Gwyneth was able to lose half of the baby weight by following a strict diet. However, the last few pounds proved impossible to shed. Rumor has it that for months she resorted to wearing not one but two pairs of Spanx . (Wearing Spanx is a trick that Nicole Richie also used to hide her after birth belly).

Gwyneth ultimately beat the bulge by hiring celebrity fitness guru Tracy Anderson. Tracy’s innovative approach to working out was a success, and now this mother of 2 appears to be in the best shape of her life. Gwyneth was so happy with her results that she referred Tracy to her buddy Madonna.

When Tracy was asked what was it like to train A-List celebrities like Gwyneth and Madonna she said:

“I constantly have to invent new things and new systems for each and every work-out. I’m making up new ways to keep them motivated and the results constant. You have to really look at what is going to happen to your body as a result of the work-out you are doing.” - DailyMail.Com

Gwyneth currently maintains her FitCeleb figure by working out on her own personal Pilates machines which she has at each of her multiple homes. Now, not everyone has that kind of money, but Tracy pointed out you don’t need to - instead ………

The “Warrior Diet”

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008 at 11:00 am

 warrior diet

The “Warrior Diet” definitely not your ordinary diet. Inspired by the Greco-Roman militaries, whose lifestyle kept them fit and healthy. The soldiers practiced eating during the day and feasting at night in order to obtain the statuesque physique that the Greeks and Romans idealized.

Ori Hofmekler, author and innovator of the “Warrior Diet.” The key to this diet consists of a daily cycle of under eating throughout the daytime and overeating at night. The idea is that you burn energy as you go through daily routine and your body replenishes itself while you sleep. By eating very little during the day you force your body to burn fat, and a high protein meal at dinner time gives you the building blocks to repair muscle tissue and vital nutrients.

The under eating phase of the warrior diet consists of small amounts of whole raw foods such as vegetables, nut and berries, as well as dairy products like yogurt. Hofmekler says these foods give you natural energy and prevent energy spikes and dips.

For over eating, Hofmekler has several rules. First, start with mild-tasting foods and move toward spicier ones later in the meal in order not to disrupt your natural hunger. Second, incorporate as many tastes, textures, colors and aromas as you can into your meal. Third, stop eating when you feel more thirsty than hungry.

What did I tell you this is not your ordinary diet. It’s not just a diet but a lifestyle change as well.
