Justin Chambers, who plays resident Alex Karev on Grey’s Anatomy, recently had a real life trip to the hospital.  These photos are from January, when this 37 year old father of five checked in to UCLA’s psych ward, in attempt to seek treatment for a sleeping disorder. Just the other day, the actor finally opened up about the experience:

“It’s an issue that I’ve had for a while,” the Grey’s Anatomy star tells PEOPLE exclusively in his first interview since the incident. “It’s a biological sleep disorder. Your mind keeps racing, and your body is tired. It wants to go to sleep, but it can’t.” - People.Com

Apparently, this problem had been going on for about two months before he sought out medical attention.  Justin was sleeping no more than an hour a week and until finally:

“I got to my wit’s end,” he says.

Luckily Justin is now on the road to recovery. I definitely have no problem falling to sleep at the end of a long day of chasing after my energetic 11 month old son.  But, for those of you who do have trouble sleeping at night -  here are a few tips ………….

Madonna Is The “Ultimate Fitceleb”

Saturday, March 29th, 2008 at 8:00 am

Madonna.reeboxclub

I have one word for all you FitCeleb fanatics. Madonna. Does anyone NOT think she’s a FitCeleb?! I am a huge Madonna fan, and I can tell you firsthand from seeing her on tour a few years ago that she is in amazing shape. She is turning 50 later this year, and is a mother of 2 (soon be adopting one more, assuming all goes well.) Wanna know how she stays in such phenomenal shape? In addition to daily workouts, Madonna sticks to a strict Macrobiotic Diet, which is based on the idea that food affects health, well being, and happiness. The diet focuses on whole, unprocessed foods and is low in fat, high in fiber and rich in vegetables and soy.

Definitely a material girl!

Do You Eat 5 Servings Of Fruits & Vegtables A Day?

Dean Cain clearly has no problem getting in his 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. How do I know this? He was just spotted shopping at Pacific Coast Greens in Malibu with a cart filled with tons of fresh produce. No wonder this former super hero looks super fit!

Unlike Dean, do you have trouble squeezing in your 5 daily servings of fruits and vegetables? Try these 4 suggestions:

  • snack on raw vegetables instead of potato chips (my favorite veggies are sugar snap peas)
  • add fruit to your cereal at breakfast
  • use the salad bar when you go out for lunch or to the grocery store
  • load up on freshly squeezed juice instead of a usual coffee, tea or soda.

So why go through all this trouble to try to eat more veggies and fruits? Click below to see the top 10 reasons for getting in your 5 a day:

FitCeleb Tip Of The Day: Easy Way To Get Your 5 A Day

Saturday, March 29th, 2008 at 6:00 am

 vegatables

As per the National Cancer Institute the recommendation was to eat five servings of fruit and three servings of vegetables a day, and their reasoning was simple: a diet high in fruits and vegetables will prevent or cure a wide range of ailments.

Eat your fruits and veggies!  I’ve never really been a fan of vegetable juice but some of this stuff sounds delish. However, you should all know that drinking vegetable juice is an excellent way to get two servings of veggies in one 50-calorie cup.

Don’t head to the supermarket just yet though: Packaged juice is often sky-high in sodium. One popular veggie blend, for example, contains 500 milligrams of sodium, or nearly a quarter of the amount you should consume in a day. One solution? Whipping up your own concoction in a juicer, like Breville Ikon Five Speed Juice Fountain. If you want to make some juice at home, try a combination of pineapple, apples, carrots, and celery, or tomatoes, carrots, and celery with a dash of lemon juice or hot sauce.
