Carnie Wilson Sets Realistic Goals
Inside Edition is slated to cover Carnie Wilson’s weight loss journey as she attempts to naturally shed the pounds she put back on with the birth of her daughter. Carnie hopes this time around if she follows a realistic plan, she can keep them off for good.
“My goal is very realistic. I want to lose between five and eight pounds a month…Slow and steady. Not crazy and insane deprivation, feeling coo-coo angry, irritable. I don’t want that. I want realistic weight loss.”
Wilson, who famously went from a size 28 to a size 6 after shedding 150 pounds due to gastric bypass surgery in 1999, tells INSIDE EDITION she has seen her weight blossom once again currently weighing in at 200 pounds.
Wilson: “I would love to get to a place where I’m maintaining forever. And I’m working on that. I don’t know if that’s in my cards. I don’t know. But I know from my history that it will always be a battle.”
Imagine having to struggle with a weight issue in the public eye. I don’t know what I would do if people were trying to get photos of me at my worst. But Carnie was grateful for it all.
“I looked online. I saw these photos and I said, ‘Oh, boy,’” Wilson continues, “I wasn’t mad. I was grateful because I looked at this picture and said, ‘All right, you can’t hide from this. You’re not going to hide from this. You’re not going to be ashamed. You’re going to be inspired.
The episode airs on April 24th. Check your local listings for times.

It’s hard to feel bad for her because in some ways, she’s brought the negative attention on herself. She’s the one who talked to countless entertainment shows and magazines about her gastric bypass, and loudly bragged about her size 6 figure. Sure, she was proud — but it was so stupid, because now that she’s gained a bunch of weight back, she looks like an idiot. But does that stop her from quietly losing the weight, without drawing huge amounts of attention to herself? Of course not. The woman is obviously more addicted to fame than food.
Charlize Theron was recently quoted as saying (very controversially) that fat people who have gastric bypass surgery are so excited when they lose tons of weight, but they don’t realize that their eating habits were just the tip of the iceberg, and are horrified when they put the weight back on. In my opinion, Carnie fits into this category. She obviously has some serious issues she needs to deal with, and exercising and dieting alone aren’t going to cut it.
