How Celebrities Drink Constantly And Still Stay Thin

First, we should mention that drinking heavily is never healthy. But, we’ve heard that a nightly glass of wine is good for the heart (4 oz.). Moderation isn’t bad.  It’s just that celebrities seem to drink alcohol on a nightly basis…like Paris Hilton, for instance…the woman lives in clubs! Yet she somehow manages to maintain her weight. Maybe she does that by drinking “healthy cocktails.”

MSN has put together a list of drinks that actually have some nutrients in them, so you’re not drinking totally empty calories. Here’s a sample of one of the “healthy cocktails” they had on their list that I thought sounded delicious:

Blue

1 Tbsp whole blueberries
½ oz fresh lemon juice
2 oz Ty Ku, an Asian-inspired liqueur made with sake
1 oz limoncello
2 oz pomegranate juice

In a rocks glass, combine the blueberries and lemon juice and muddle the berries to extract the juice. Add ice until the glass is half full, top with the remaining ingredients, and stir.

From the Four Seasons, New York, NY

The benefit: In a Preventive Medicine Research Institute study, heart patients’ health improved after they drank antioxidant-rich pomegranate juice.

And here’s a recipe for a cocktail that doesn’t sound so appealing:

Avocado Daiquiri

2 oz silver rum
2 oz gold rum
¼ medium-ripe avocado
½ oz half-and-half
¼ oz fresh lemon or lime juice
2 oz simple syrup
1 ½ cups ice cubes

Combine the ingredients and blend until smooth.

From Hip Sips, by Lucy Brennan

The benefit:
Researchers at Ohio State University have determined that avocados protect against heart disease.

Of course the low-cal Diet Coke and rum staple is always a good option too for a night out on the town. But getting some nutrients into your alcoholic drinks isn’t a bad idea, especially if you haven’t eaten much that day. Have you ever tried anything that could be considered a “healthy cocktail?”

Back when I was RELIGIOUS about my weight and being healthy if I let a drop of alcohol touch my lips it had to be vodka (usually flavored) and water. It tasted terrible, causing me to drink less.

I love limoncello but I can’t imagine putting it in a drink where the purpose is to lose weight or keep weight off. Limoncello is nearly all sugar and alcohol.
