Heidi Klum Says You Can’t Kid Yourself About Losing Baby Weight

By now, we’ve all seen some celebrities take it too far when it comes to losing the baby weight. There were rumors that Selma Hayek didn’t want to be seen out in public until she had shed the pounds so she was working out like crazy. And then there are people like Nicole Richie who slim down, literally overnight. Nicole was spotted within days of giving birth to Harlow, already wearing her skinny jeans.

Heidi Klum says she doesn’t think people should live like that, and that when it comes to losing the baby weight, you’ve got to be realistic.

“I always think, ‘Look at how people were before they were pregnant. If you were a toned, healthy, energetic person, most likely you will be like that again. A lot of people come to me, and they’re like, ‘Will I look like you after I have the baby?’ And I say, ‘Well, how were you before?’ You can’t kid yourself.”

Hollywood focuses too much on weight for her liking:

“I don’t want to be wondering about how skinny I am, wondering what I’m going to eat because I don’t want to gain and I want to look hot and young, always and forever.”

Dang it, I wanted to look like Heidi after giving birth! :P But, in all honesty, she’s right. It’s good to be realistic with your expectations.

Strange words coming from a supermodel who, just two weeks after giving birth, went back to working out a couple of hours a day, six days a week, so she could be “fit” (read: SKINNY) for a Victoria’s Secret show.

I like what she has to say, and it sounds right, but like Granger said… Very easy to say when you are a super model and have every person willing to help you the day after giving birth.

And everyone IS different! My best friend looked exactly the same (clothed) 5 weeks after giving birth as she did before getting pregnant. Her Mom was so surprised! But now my sister took 9 months to get back and even then, had a very difficult time shedding weight from her hips. Her body changed shape and now she is learning to just embrace it. She looks great and exercises way more them me.

Good point Granger, I remember when she was signing a different song to get back into the runway so soon.
