Jessica Simpson stopped by Nashville last week to sign up for membership in the Country Music Association. Simpson’s first Country single, “Come on Over,” is currently climbing the charts.
A source tells E! Entertainment,
“She was very sweet and seemed happy to join the organization. Being a member makes you part of the industry. It’s great for networking. “
CMA membership is made up of over 6,000 artists, managers, record company personnel, publicists, musicians, songwriters, full time Country radio staff members among others. Simpson will join such country legends such as Willie Nelson, Faith Hill, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood, who are all CMA members.
Besides “ordinary” benefits such as special rates on health insurance, Simpson will also be given the more “glamorous” benefit as a CMA member of being able to nominate and vote for a CMA Award.
As a CMA member, Jessica can now participate in the nomination process. Would you vote for yourself if you had the chance to? Be honest.

The trailer for Keira Knightley's new movie, The Duchess is comparing her character to Princess Diana and she's not happy about it!
The trailer for The Duchess, a new film about the aristocrat Georgiana Spencer and her adulterous life, shows a clip of the Princess juxtaposed with the title character and accompanied by the words: "The two were related by ancestry and united by destiny". A voice over adds: "History repeats itself."
Keira said,
"I am Georgiana. I am not Diana. The film is not about Diana."
And the movie's writer, Amanda Foreman said,
"The marketing people probably thought the only way they could get young popcorn-eating brigade to see this film was if they made some comparison with Diana. But they did not need to and should not have done it."
Do you think Keira has good reason to be worked up? It must be annoying to feel like the trailer for your movie doesn't accurately portray what it's about, and is nothing more than a marketing gimmick. It's also sad to see memories of Princess Diana in that way. Imagine how mad people would be if Heath's death were portrayed like that.
What a cool story! Wyclef Jean was so inspired by Venus Williams after the two were paired in an episode of Iconoclasts (a show on the Sundance Channel about people who are innovators in their field) that he wrote a song about her! The song is called Venus (I'm Ready) and will be like an anthem to the Olympic gold medalist.
"Venus’ determination and mental strength inspires me! Much like Isis, her strength should be celebrated."
And of course, Venus is thrilled. Who wouldn't be?!?
"I was so happy to meet Wyclef and work with him on our ‘Iconoclasts’ episode but not even in my wildest imagination, did I expect that such a beautiful song would be one of the outcomes from meeting Wyclef. He is an amazing human being and it is truly an honor for me to be recognized in such a wonderful way by such a gifted musician and exceptional person."
Talk about amazing!!! I always think it's so cool when women who have artistic boyfriends have songs written about them. Although in this case, not so much...it's like the ultimate romantic gesture. Don't you think?
