Carnie Wilson Sets Realistic Goals

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008 at 12:28 pm

Inside Edition is slated to cover Carnie Wilson’s weight loss journey as she attempts to naturally shed the pounds she put back on with the birth of her daughter. Carnie hopes this time around if she follows a realistic plan, she can keep them off for good.

“My goal is very realistic. I want to lose between five and eight pounds a month…Slow and steady. Not crazy and insane deprivation, feeling coo-coo angry, irritable. I don’t want that. I want realistic weight loss.”

Wilson, who famously went from a size 28 to a size 6 after shedding 150 pounds due to gastric bypass surgery in 1999, tells INSIDE EDITION she has seen her weight blossom once again currently weighing in at 200 pounds.

Wilson: “I would love to get to a place where I’m maintaining forever. And I’m working on that. I don’t know if that’s in my cards. I don’t know. But I know from my history that it will always be a battle.”

Imagine having to struggle with a weight issue in the public eye. I don’t know what I would do if people were trying to get photos of me at my worst. But Carnie was grateful for it all.

“I looked online. I saw these photos and I said, ‘Oh, boy,’” Wilson continues, “I wasn’t mad. I was grateful because I looked at this picture and said, ‘All right, you can’t hide from this. You’re not going to hide from this. You’re not going to be ashamed. You’re going to be inspired.

The episode airs on April 24th. Check your local listings for times.

Carnie Wilson: I Have Not Gained 79 Pounds!

Friday, March 28th, 2008 at 9:00 am

Carnie Wilson Running

Everyone knows the Carnie Wilson story by now and if you don’t, here you go. Nine years ago, Carnie (39) underwent gastric bypass surgery after she ballooned to 300 pounds. About 16 months after that procedure, she was down to 148 pounds. Carnie has always struggled with her weight, and gained much of it back when she was pregnant with her daughter Lola in 2005.  As if that isn’t enough, she’s going through this battle in the public eye. Here is Carnie jogging on March 24, 2008 near her home in Los Angeles, California. Carnie is slamming the National Enquirer for claiming that she has gained 79 pounds and plans to have another gastric bypass. She spoke to Good Morning America on Thursday about how upset she is by this claim and here’s what she had to say:

“If I’m 205 today, that means I am up 70 pounds. 79 pounds is an outright lie. It is very hard being in the public eye, being scrutinized for every pound. A gastric bypass patient needs follow rules, I fell off the bandwagon when I was pregnant… my eating habits changed. For me, it was about snacking,” she added. “Somebody can consume a certain amount of calories, and if they don’t burn the calories, that equals weight gain.”

Carnie Wilson Opens Up About Her Battle Against The Scale

Thursday, March 20th, 2008 at 2:00 pm

Back in 1999 Carnie shared her gastric bypass surgery online, which literally cut 150 lbs. off her 300-lb. figure. Since then, the singer has yo-yo-ed up and down. Most recently, the soon to be 40 year-old is weighing in at 208 lbs. and wears a size 16. Carnie had the courage to open up to OK magazine regarding her weight:

“Everyone can see that I’m bigger, but I cannot hibernate,” she tells OK!. “I’ve never lied or been dishonest about what’s going on in my life. Even all these years later, having had such a great weight-loss story, being back in this place is so familiar. And it hurts. I don’t want to feel this way anymore. It doesn’t feel good when you have to struggle to get your pants on.” - OK magazine

Apparently, the root cause of this stars weight gain is snacking and personal neglect. After the birth of her daughter, Carnie turned all her focus on her little girl, leaving zero attention to her weight or diet.

“I had anxiety, started snacking and gained it all back and more,” she says. “I have a weakness when it comes to snacking. For me, it’s a tortilla with cheese, popcorn and graham crackers, all in one night.” - OK magazine

However, Carnie hasn’t thrown in the towel just yet, she is determined to get her weight back on track and then get pregnant:

“I’d like to lose 45 to 50 pounds and then try to get pregnant again. I know I will do it! I don’t consider myself a failure. I just got off track.” - OK magazine
