Private Practice Kate Walsh slipped something under the radar on Christmas Eve: she filed her own divorce papers.  Here's the interesting part: she claims that she and Alex Young separated on November 17, five days before he claimed they separated (November 22).

Neither one is asking for spousal support and both have listed the cause for divorce as "irreconcilable differences."

This is a head scratcher.  Why would Kate do this?

Apparently even people close to actress Kate Walsh and studio executive Alex Young are trying to make sense of their sudden split.  Some people are speculating that a third party, or at least, Kate's feelings for someone, may be the reason behind the abrupt divorce filing.  That someone is Kate's Private Practice love interest, David Sutcliffe.

'Kate really likes David, and knowing that didn't help Alex's fragile ego,' a friend of the actress says. 'Kate and David had a real connection playing lovers on the show, and she didn't seem to have that with her own husband.'" 

Just a week before the divorce filing, Kate and Alex seemed happy at Katherine Heigl's 30th birthday party.

'They were dancing up a storm, having a really good time together,' one partygoer tells Star. 'There were no signs that there was any trouble in paradise.'"

I don't know (this is Star, after all), but I've always wondered about this issue with actors.  It can't be easy to have your spouse kissing someone else as part of their job!  Then again, no one should have known the challenges better than a studio executive.

You have to wonder what in the world would cause a couple to go from wedded bliss to divorce in one week, but there are so many possibilities!  From their whirlwind courtship on, everything has been surprising and sudden with this pair.

Private Practice's Kate Walsh has officially split from her husband Alex Young citing "irreconcilable differences". The film executive is actually the one who filed the paperwork. 

People Magazine scrounged up the following quote from an old appearance on Ellen DeGeneres' show where Kate confessed there really was nothing to look forward to after the wedding.

"There was this kind of funny moment, after we were like we're married and all of the hoopla was over and we were like, 'What do we do now?' "

"We're married," she said at the time. "Alright, I guess we just live and love and learn from each other." 

Sometimes it just doesn't work out. The pair was married just over a year.

Kate Walsh from, "Private Practice" was looking fantastic as she had lunch with a male friend at Little Dom's in Los Feliz, California yesterday afternoon. I'm head over heels in love with Kate's entire outfit (I NEED that Chanel)and as always I'm digging her hair.

I just posted about this party but here are a few photos of the LA locals had their phones customized with their names on the back of the phones. Eva Longoria Parker, Adrian Grenier, Nicky Hilton, Mario Lopez, Dustin Hoffman, Kate Walsh, Jerry Ferrara, Jennifer Morrison, Rachel Zoe, Molly Sims, Hayden Panettiere, Kate Bosworth, Tyrese Gibson, and Katharine McPhee all attended the launch party at a custom-built venue in heart of Beverly Hills the day before Halloween.

I love how some are openly posing with the products while others aren't into the game. Do they get to take home the goodie bag either way? 

Rarely am I jealous of party goers - but this one hits home. I am OBSESSED with my Blackberry.

Kate Walsh and a few of her gal pals got together for some tea and conversation late yesterday afternoon. I am loving Kate's hair color and am this close to printing it out and just going for it. I used to have red hair in high school but have been blonde for so long I feel like it's a windy road back...

Does anyone make drastic hair color changes for the season? Or do you just slightly go darker as the weather gets colder?

Kate Walsh looked phenomenal in a rich green dress as she left the "Late Show With David Letterman" yesterday. Kate is one of those ladies that knows what works for her and always manages to make a great statement on the red carpet. Did anyone catch the premiere of, "Private Practice" last night?
