Jett was the most wonderful son that two parents could ever ask for and lit up the lives of everyone he encountered. We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief. We will cherish the time we had with him for the rest of our lives.

We have received many messages of condolence from around the world and we want to thank everyone for their prayers and support. It has meant so much to us. It is a beautiful reminder of the inherent goodness in the human spirit that gives us hope for a brighter future."

This is tragic news.  John Travolta's and Kelly Preston's 16-year-old son, Jett, died today.  The family was vacationing in the Bahamas.  John's attorney said Jett suffered a seizure and could not be revived.  He died on the scene.

John said his son suffered from Kawasaki Syndrome.  Kelly said Jett initially fell ill at the age of two after inhaling carpet cleaning fumes that caused his immune system to shut down in a 2001 Good Morning America interview.  Jett reportedly required assistance and was seen in a wheelchair.  He was rarely photographed with his family, although the main picture (above) is from a 2004 family vacation (Jett is in the middle).

John and Kelly also have a daughter, Ella.

John Travolta's teenage son, Jett, died in the Bahamas after falling ill and hitting his head at his family's vacation home, police said Friday. A house caretaker found Jett, 16, unconscious in a bathroom late Friday morning. He was taken by ambulance to a Freeport hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to a statement from chief police superintendent Basil Rahming.

Step Up Women's Network will host its annual Inspiration Awards gala, celebrating the 10 year anniversary of our nonprofit organization. We will be honoring outstanding leaders who have made a tremendous impact in making resources available to women and girls in our community. This year, our honorees include long-time supporter and former board member Kelly Rutherford (Actress, Gossip Girl), founding NY board president Lisa Shotland (Creative Artists Agency), and The Dove Self Esteem Fund for their support of our teen girls. Our host for the evening will be Veronica Webb (host of "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style" and former Victoria's Secret model).The Inspiration Awards gather the New York elite and Step Up members to celebrate philanthropy and the importance of cultivating a new generation of women leaders. This year's event will be held at the exclusive IAC headquarters, designed by world-renowned architect Frank Gehry. The evening includes a cocktail reception, a seated dinner, an awards ceremony, performances by our teen girls, a silent auction, and a wine tasting event. We expect over 600 guests to join us for this special evening.

I haven't seen Rachael Lee Cook in quite some time. I'm so used to her with the dark hair that it took me a minute to register that the above picture was her.WENN

John Travolta admits there is a need to work on his 16 year marriage to Kelly Preston. To me, this really isn't news. Every relationship needs some attention whether it be friend, family or spouse. But at least we know that they have committed to one another and their family. In a land where engagements last longer than marriages, it's nice to see a couple reach double digits. John also added that Kelly is going to start trying to get pregnant at the end of the summer.

On creating relationships: 

"We've been married for almost 16 years and we have to work at it. Most people forget that you have to create relationships. The allure of the first years settles down and at that moment, you better start creating it, otherwise you're going to lose out."

On being in a celebrity relationship:

John Travolta (53) and Kelly Preston (44) have announced that they are going to try for another child.  I have a completely different plan for my life. When I am in my 50s, I want to be planning my children's wedding NOT changing diapers again. But hey! To each his own. I wish them the best of luck. I guess it's never too late in life to add more love into a home.
