Reese Witherspoon and boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal were on their way into the Staples Center in Los Angeles yesterday to watch the Lakers play. I just love these two together - makes complete sense if you ask me. Both parties are so down to Earth and not affected by Hollywood. 

Reese has two movies coming up between now and 2010. One she is just lending her voice to - Monsters vs. Aliens - and the other is an Untitled Cameron Crow project alongside funnyman Ben Stiller. I can't wait to learn more about the latter!! Both actors are great comedians! 

Jake has been a tad bit busier.

USA Today ranks celebrities' popularity in the Celebrity Heat Index by measuring how often a celebrity is mentioned in print and online entertainment media outlets.  The celebrities are ranked every week based on how much coverage they receive for the week.  Today they published the results for the entire year.

Britney Spears kept her #1 position for 2008 (she was also #1 in 2007) after being the most-covered celebrity for 11 weeks this year.  The pop star received a monumental amount of press attention this year (which I'm sure none of us will ever forget) between two psychiatric hospitalization and an incredible comeback, including the release of her latest album, Circus.

Angelina Jolie (#2) just edged out Jennifer Aniston (#3), while the third member of the triangle (Brad Pitt) came in at #4.  Although Britney managed to have the most weeks as the most-covered celebrity, Angelina, Jennifer, and Brad had 14 weeks as the most-covered celebrities between the three of them.  I suspect this trio will be tied together until their careers die down.  Well, they say the worst press is no press, right?

Four Christmases star Reese Witherspoon has always struck me as one of those uber-responsible people who just has "Most Likely To Succeed" stamped on her forehead.  I've always suspected a lot of her success was based on her own personal strength and avoiding the trappings of Hollywood.  Can you imagine her flashing us as she's stumbling into/ falling out of a car, drunk?  She gave a wide-ranging interview to UK's Daily Mirror that supports her responsible image.

Although Reese is seriously dating Jake Gyllenhaal, she isn't sure about remarriage.

I don't know. I don't think about it much. At the moment, I am not far enough out of being married to think about doing it again."

Good for her!  So many people rush into a new marriage without really taking the time to get over the one that ended.  Very level-headed.  Reese also seems very grounded.

I'm responsible, I'm not extravagant. I'm not frivolous or carefree. I haven't been a young girl for a long time, because I started work so young and I had children young. Someone asked me: 'Do you have a chef?' And I said: 'Yes, her name is Reese.' "

It can be hard to work as a child actor and have children young.  Sounds like she was able to adapt, though.  Not only is she down-to-earth, Reese also sounds pretty strong.

It is Angelina Jolie's time to shine.  If falling in love with Brad Pitt, having six beautiful children, serving as a United Nation's ambassador, and starring in a number of hit movies weren't enough proof that Angelina's time has come, here's another one:

Angelina Jolie is now the highest paid actress in Hollywood, reportedly earning more than $15 million dollars per movie.

Reese Witherspoon, Zachary Quinto, Elizabeth Shue, and Robin Thicke took time out of their busy schedules to attend a fund raiser for the Children's Defense Fund. This is the organization's 18th year in service!!

The Children's Defense Fund (CDF) is a non-profit child advocacy organization which champions policies and programs that lift children out of poverty; protect them from abuse and neglect; and ensure their access to health care, quality education, and a moral and spiritual foundation. Supported by foundation and corporate grants and individual donations, CDF advocates nationwide on behalf of children to ensure children are always a priority.

What a great cause! Reese has been championing this cause for quite some time now. I remember the actress talking about her work with CDF on Idols Give Back earlier this year.

Jake Gyllenhaal has proposed to Reese Witherspoon three times now, but three times isn't a charm, since she's said no to every once of his proposals. But, he's finally tiring of asking.

The 27-year-old New Yorker first popped the question — with a diamond ring, even — on March 22, Reese's 32nd birthday. He tried again in July and mid-October when she visited him in London, where he's been filming Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. The next time, Reese will have to do the asking.

Poor Jake!

Jake feels he's found the love of his life, and he can't understand why Reese won't take that step with him.

I think it's different for Jake going into marriage for the first time than it is for Reese who's loved and been burned in the past.  Maybe after the first time around you're a bit more skeptical.

Reese Witherspoon is the reason why I added a travel wear section. Here she is arriving to LAX yesterday wearing a cute black outfit with brown boots and a purple scarf. While I'm one of those people who typically don't put black and brown together, I have to admit that Reese is rocking it. 

Also at LAX were Josh Brolin, Diane Lane and John Mayer.

Seeing as how Reese Witherspoon is the highest paid actress in all of Hollywood, if she spoiled her kids rotten at Christmas time it wouldn't really be all that surprising.  But, the Oscar winner is determined to keep Ava and Deacon down to Earth, by not showering them with gifts.

When asked about Christmas presents, Reese says,

"I’m a little strict about that kind of stuff. I think kids do best when they only have a couple of things that they really enjoy. I try and stay away from the gluttony of things."

The kids won't have crazy mountains of gifts under the tree this year.

“They don’t appreciate it as much. When they only get one or two things they really like it.” 

I know some people who go nuts at Christmas time because they want their kids to have a holiday like their family never had.  Others try to have some restraint, but honestly, I don't know anyone who limits gifts to one or two under the tree.  Which end of the spectrum do you fall on?

Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal were each spotted leaving a Thanksgiving party thrown by Richard Rogers at his Chelsea home in London. Looks like the trio spent Thanksgiving together on the other side of the pond.

I thought Gwyneth said she was taking care of the cooking for all of her ex-patriot pals? Guess it didn't work out.
