I don't want to get too far into political debates because I get quite heated! What do you all think?

Being a Christian myself, I don't understand how one can view life so meaninglessly and think that abortion is okay. I view it as murder. Under certain circumstances I would have to question whether it was okay, but I feel in my heart, having the option to have or not have a baby is not our decision. There are many families, my brother and sister-in-law as an example, that are not able to have children. They are in the process of trying to adopt, and a child not wanted by one family might be a blessing to another.
I agree that there needs to be a change in Washington, but I'm not sure Obama is the answer. I really wish there was another choice, but out of the 2, I guess McCain is the best.

Tnkrbell80, muslims most certainly do not condone abortions, so I don't see what that has to do with Obama coming from a mulsim background? :/

I didn't say that I wasn't going to vote for Obama because of his background. I said that it bothered me. Here in the US, our candidates list what they are for and against, Obama, has said that he is not opposed to abortion, something that I do not believe in. There for I will not vote for him. He might make some changes to the US, but I'm not giving up my values for them.
Oh, and testguy grow up.
BoN said: 9/11 HIT EVERYONE HARD!!!!!!!!
So, you're going to use 9/11 as a reason to basically make an initial negative judgement on anyone who is muslim or may have parents or ancestoral ties to a muslim before you even get to know them or their belief system.
I'm not a religious scholar in any religion but maybe you should review your religious book and try to understand it a bit more before you use your religion to answer a political question.
tnkrbell80 said: No, I'm not making a negative judgement on him for his background. I don't agree with his beliefs or what he stands for. Therefore I'm not voting for him. Everyone has their own opinion on things. I'm going with what I believe is right.

From the context of your statement, the conclusion can be drawn that you haven't had much personal interaction with muslims nor with people of other nations.
It's really sad, the nation has grown so much in the past 40 years but the thought process for many is still stuck in the past.
tnkrbell80 said: I interact with people of all nationalities and religions all of the time.

I'm just sticking to my personal beliefs. I'm not stuck in the past, I'm being a realist.
I really don't agree a hundred percent with either candidate. I wish there was another choice, but unfortunately there is not.
BoN said: Personal Interaction?!?! Hmnnnn...
Well of course, the chances of agreeing with a candidate 100% are pretty darn slim.
But you're still "bothered" by his muslim "background", those were your words not mine. (Shaking My Head, SMH, SMH)
tnkrbell80 said: Yes personal interaction.

He may be a great President. I will not be voting for him.

Hey you can vote for anyone your want to vote for it is the USA afterall.

It does not bother me that he is biracial, why are you throwing that in!!? I'm not judgemental but most people vote for someone that has the same ideals that they do.
The forum asked who you'd be voting for, which I stated and why. My discussion on this topic is over.

Well, this is the section where you can talk about anything, including politics. I filed it under Let's Get Personal, not gossip!
